Fall in love with a Hagen novel

NaNoWriMo

nanoimageSo tonight is my last night of “freedom” before NaNoWriMo month takes over my mind, body…and our house, little does my family know. I think I’m ready. This is my first year fully attacking NaNo and it joins many more firsts for me.

My first Facebook author and profile page which I’m desperately trying to not screw up. So far I have kept anything author related on author pages, but the time is coming when I’ll screw up and post something on my personal profile, under my real name, and one of my friends will say, “Huh?” Yes folks, that right…I’m keeping it hush, hush from almost everybody. For now…

I think I’m finally getting the hang of Twitter. You gain some and you lose some. You get spam followers just trying to get you to follow them back and the minute you do, they bail. The Unfollowspy app on my phone is my new best friend.

I’ve finally made the people around me respect my time so I can write. This was a biggie and it’s still not perfect, but almost. My middle daughter is the worst culprit of this, but then, she leaves for college next fall so maybe she’s just going to miss me. Yeah right.

I’ve created a writing area in our bedroom. I don’t like sitting at desks and I do always need the noise of the TV to write so the best option was a comfy chair ottoman combo for our bedroom. Instead, I have a wonderful new recliner that wouldn’t have been my first choice, but my husband spotted it and told me to check it out. My ass fell in love right away. We’re still in our honeymoon phase!

I picked up a critique partner and well, my best writing friend. We talk every day, we patiently support each other through our pity parties of which we both have had a few. I’m thankful every day that she decided to reach out to me!

And when I go into NaNo, I go into it on a team with nine other women through Savvy Authors. This is my first time forming connections with this many women in a common endeavor and I refuse to let them down. While I help us try to win a challenge, they will be helping me finish my very first novel.

Good luck to all of you participating in NaNoWriMo and all writers out there striving for success around your daily commitments and relationships! If you want another NaNo buddy just search my name and send me a request. I would love to see how you’re all doing with your goals!
